Cannero Riviera
Lies on the Western shore of Lake Maggiore, on the main road n° 34, between Stresa and Locarno, near the Swiss Border. A beautiful holiday resort, on a small sunny promontory, has become famous for its climate temperature in Summer and very mild Winter. This helps the growth of a luxuriant Mediterranean vegetation rich in magnolias, palms, orange, lemon and olive groves. Camelias, azaleas, mimosa, rhododendrum bloom in early, in contrast with the vines and chestnut trees which cover the surrounding mountains. A boat-service link Cannero to Luino and the Intra-Laveno Ferry Boat takes you to the Lombard Eastern shore of the Lake. From where you can easily reach Varese and Milano. In Cannero many sports can be practiced: swimming, sailing, canoeing, fishing; you can also go on a motor-boat trip to the Cannero Castles. Cannero has a long and large beach (which got the Blue Flag “Bandiera Blu” in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 ) and by a service of motor-boat taxis you can reach and visit all the beautiful places on the Lake. A tennis-court, a football ground, an amusement park, the possibility of walks and excursion to the surrounding mountains offer a variety of entertainments for children and adults. Many events take place during the year: in March there are the “Citrus fruits” and the “Camellias” international exposition.
