An award which has been received for the past two years. This award of international recognition has been shared with just one other location on the lake.Cannero Riviera is a quiet municipality. There are about 1,000 inhabitants. Situated in the Northern area of Piemonte in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola. The Swiss border is within easy reach. The climate is mild with very little wind . The calm water of the bay, and the friendly locals welcome tourists and make Cannero Riviera a centre for summer tourism.Just a little to the North of the Lido near the coast you can admire the Castles of Cannero. Little islands which conserve the remains of fortresses from the XI and XI century. This impregnable stronghold has also been used through the centuries by pirates and smugglers . Today the Castles of Cannero are one of the icons of Lake Maggiore.Behind the village the lake atmosphere changes in a few moments to be enriched by many diversions. The first hills of the National park of the Valgrande become ideal places for excursions on foot, by mountain bike or on horse back.Cannero is situated in a perfect position for visiting the principle attractions of the zone, for example Verbania and Villa Taranto, Stresa and Isola Bella, Arona and the statue of Saint Carlo. On the opposite shore in the province of Lombardy, Angera and The Rocca Borromeo, The hermitage named Saint Cathrine, Luino and then Switzerland with the Brissago Islands , Ascona and Locarno.
